Life Transitions

Selling Real estate often is more about “life transitions” than just selling or purchasing
a home. Over the last few months, I have worked with several clients that are downsizing from their home where they raised their family, moving to small home or even a retirement home. There is an emotional piece to this transition, not only with the Sellers, but with the family members who were raised in the home.  The Seller has to deal with and decide what to do with all of their belongings that have accumulated. What about that wonderful couch that no one wants? Or the dining room table that is full of memories of holidays and family meals, lives shared together. The sale of their home represents a closure to that time in their lives and moving to the last stage of their life.  This is why a real estate agent needs to be more than just someone selling or listing a home.  An agent has to be able to tap into the clients needs and cater to each of their individual situations.  When it comes down to it, sometimes being a real estate agent is less about the actual transaction and more about guiding your clients through their next life transition, whatever that may be.
